Leadership Coaching

If you are searching for a business coach, you have already achieved a good deal of success in your career.  And, you may be experiencing an impasse in your effectiveness as a leader. There is a saying that what got you here won’t get you there.  In other words the success formula you have used in the past has worn itself out or is no  longer yielding results at the new level or in the new context in which you are now leading.

You might be perplexed as to why you are not getting results despite meaningful efforts. Perhaps your approach to relating with others – colleagues, direct reports, boss(es), board members – results in misunderstanding, conflict or generally poor results.  You may have work habits that leave you scattered and disorganized.  Giving feedback, coaching & developing others may be challenging.  You may be facing a transition, causing you to question ‘what’s next?’ and ‘am I ready?’.  These are common reasons, among others, that leaders choose to hire a leadership coach.

Rise Leaders designs and executes coaching programs that address these and many other pain points in the dynamic life of a leader.  Those completing our programs report a calm confidence,  the ability to apply their learning in future contexts, self-correct when making errors and generate sustainable results.

Coaching engagements last six- to twelve months, are focused on clear outcomes and use a holistic, integrative approach.  A collaborative relationship based on mutual trust and respect is essential for the completion of a successful program.

Elements of a typical coaching program:

  • Regular meetings via audio and/or video calls
  • Engagement in regular practices that lead to lasting results and an empowered and productive mindset
  • Experimentation with and reflection on new behaviors
  • Identification of assumptions and beliefs that impede consistent effectiveness
  • Developing a leadership presence consistent with the outcomes desired
  • Reading:  articles and books
  • Developing a stronger sense of self-awareness
  • Working with resistance to change

Coaching engagement preparation checklist:

  • I am generally aware of the outcomes I want
  • I am highly motivated to achieve the outcomes I declare I want
  • I am ready to commit at least two hours per month to meet with my coach
  • I am open to receive feedback on the effectiveness of my actions and behaviors
  • I will experiment with new practices on a regular (daily, weekly) basis
  • I understand that the effectiveness of the program depends heavily on my commitment to the scheduled calls and my willingness to try new approaches,  complete assignments and engage in practices between calls

The Leadership 360 Assessment Program

Rise uses a best-in-class 360 instrument that can be integrated with a coaching program, a leadership development course, or as a stand-alone engagement.  The stand-alone program consists of debriefing the 360 profile and a 3 – 5 session follow-up, including the creation of a development plan.

The Leadership Circle 360

The Leadership Circle Profile is designed to accelerate leadership effectiveness beyond traditional competency-based approaches. It is the only 360 degree competency assessment that simultaneously provides focused competency feedback while also revealing the underlying assumptions that are causing a leader’s pattern of strengths and limitations.

The Leadership Circle Profile helps leaders understand the relationship between how they habitually think, how they behave, and, more importantly, how all this impacts their current level of leadership effectiveness. Once this awareness is established, leadership development can proceed. Without it, change rarely happens.

Overcome Your Immunity to Change

We have all experienced the dynamic of setting a goal that will improve some aspect of our leadership or wellbeing only to realize little or no enduring progress.  We move forward and back in a virtual rocking chair.

The Overcoming Immunity to Change (ItC) program incorporates the work of Dr. Bob Kegan and Dr. Lisa Lahey and their wildly successful ItC Mapping process, found in their book, Immunity to Change:  How to Overcome it and Unlock the Potential in Yourself and Your Organization.  The goal of this process is to uncover and attend to what holds us back: our Competing Commitments and Hidden Assumptions.

The completion of the Immunity to Change (ItC) Map is significant in itself, yet the ultimate value lies in the testing of assumptions and experimentation with new behaviors and actions that follow.  The Overcoming Your Immunity to Change program is a three to six month focused program on the improvement of a single goal.  In-tact teams who complete individual ItC maps and share progress with one another build trust and the ability to achieve team goals at an accelerated rate.
